It is crucial to remember the following tips for your piano examination:
1. Ensure you have everything you need the night before your exam.
2. Bring the official, original piano examination book and not photocopies.
3. Arrive at the examination centre 10-15 minutes early.
4. No drinks or food are allowed in any examination room.
5. Use the waiting room to warm up, practice your scales, and revise your music theory.
6. Feeling anxious before any performance is normal, but remember that you've worked hard throughout the year. Now is your time to shine and enjoy the benefits of your sustained hard work at the piano.
7. When you enter the examination room, ensure you're comfortable at the piano. Adjust the stool, or ask the examiner to help you.
8. If you're unsure about something the examiner says, ask them to repeat it.
9. Keep in mind that the piano is not a school desk! Don't sit too close to the piano, your arms must be free to move.
10. You can start with either scales or pieces depending on what makes you feel most comfortable. The choice is always yours.
Remember, you are well-prepared for this exam. So, be assertive, confident, and most importantly, smile and enjoy your piano examination!
